Trim levels on the 2022 GMC Yukon

If you’re in the market for a large luxury SUV, you can’t do much better than the brand-new 2022 GMC Yukon. With four trim levels, three engine options, and countless optional features to choose from, the Yukon can take so many forms it’s almost impossible not to be able to create a version that meets your needs perfectly.

Today we get into the details of every trim, but before we talk about that, let‘s take a look at Yukon’s engine lineup.

Yukon engines

You know the engine lineup is incredible when the standard choice is a 5.3-liter V8. And for an SUV that can carry as many as 9 passengers and balloon to a whopping 122.9 cubic feet of storage space behind the first row, it couldn’t have been any other way.

The 5.3-liter V8 will get you 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. It’s standard on the SLE, SLT, and AT4 and, just like all of Yukon’s engines, it comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

There is a second V8 available and it comes as optional on the AT4 and standard on the mighty Denali. It‘s a 6.2-liter V8 that can churn out an incredible 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

On top of the two gas engines, there’s also a turbocharged diesel – a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that will deliver 277 hours and 460 lb-ft of torque. It can be fitted on all the trims except the AT4.

Now that we‘ve covered the engines, it‘s time to talk trims.

The 2022 Yukon SLE

The base trim on the Denali is called the SLE. It starts at around $50,000 and it comes with the 5.3-liter engine as standard plus LED headlights, 18-inch wheels, proximity keyless entry and push-button start, an eight-person seating configuration (2-3-3), a huge 10.2-inch color touch, a digital instrument cluster, both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, Forward Collision Mitigation, and the Lane Keeping Assist system.

On top of its standard features, you can add a lot of extra options as well, the most notable of which being the GMC Pro Safety package that will get you the Blind-Spot Monitor system and the Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

The 2022 Yukon SLT

The SLT is Yukon’s middle trim and in our experience, it’s also the most sought-after model. That is because it offers great value for money and can be customized with tons of extra features to tweak it to meet most needs perfectly.

Order it and you get everything listed under the SLE plus the GMC Pro Safety Plus package, 20-inch wheels, a hands-free liftgate, heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, a premium nine-speaker Bose audio system, and a wireless charging pad.

The 2022 Yukon AT4

The AT4 is designed specifically for off-road enthusiasts, so it’s no wonder it comes with AWD only.

It’s the first trim that offers the larger 6.2-liter V8 as an option and it features all the standard features of the SLT, to which it adds unique front fascia to improve the Yukon’s approach angle, dark gray wheels with all-terrain tires, front tow hooks and skid plate, a heavy-duty air filter, adaptive suspension dampers, Hill Descent Control, driver’s seat memory settings, a heated steering wheel, heated outboard second-row seats, and a power-folding third row.

There are two notable optional packages for the AT4:

  • Technology package
    • Surround-view camera system
    • Head-up display
  • Premium Capability with Active Response 4WD package
    • Air suspension
    • Electronic limited-slip differential

The 2022 Yukon Denali

At the very top of the food chain sits the Yukon Denali. It’s Yukon’s most luxurious trim and the only one to offer the 6.2-liter V8 engine as standard. It also includes most features listed under the AT4 plus the Technology package as standard plus a state-of-the-art 14-speaker Bose audio system and second-row bucket seats.

As complete as the Denali is, you can still add to it by ordering optional extra packages. The top three of which are:

  • Advanced Technology package
    • Adaptive cruise control
    • Digital rearview mirror
    • Advanced security system
    • Rear automatic emergency braking
  • Denali Premium package
    • Advanced Technology package
    • 22-inch wheels
    • Panoramic sunroof
    • Power-retractable side steps
  • Denali Ultimate package
    • Denali Premium package
    • Max Trailering package
    • Rear-seat entertainment system with dual 12.6-inch display screens
    • Air suspension
